CHOOSE

‘Choose’ represents an experimental form of net art exploring the concept of choice. Its primary objective is to satirize, provoke contemplation, and shed light on the problematic nature surrounding the freedom and impartiality of choices. It operates on multiple levels: linguistically, demanding an understanding of language for comprehension; structurally, presenting itself as a multiple-choice questionnaire; and covertly, exploring the influence these choices could have from technology, especially search engines. The potential answers often draw from historical events, photographs, diverse subject matters, and current lifestyle figures, resembling a form of psychometric research – data analytics/Likert scale. Each language features its uniquely processed thematic test, leading to varied linguistic and conceptual answers, influenced by cultural nuances. The work manifests as a poetic collage, an ununified narrative collage that not only satirises but also questions its own structure.
